For as long as I can remember, I have always been obsessed with scent and the ability it has to transform a room. I didn't grow up in a home where candles were a regular purchase, in fact, my mom never bought a single candle. We were, however, a nomad family. Moving countries every couple of years and traveling most of the world before I graduated high school. With so many memories packed into such a small time frame, it was easy to forget many of the wonderful experiences that shaped me in those formative years.

Something did remain constant, and it was that whooping smell that we sometimes get out of nowhere, and that makes your memory take you back to a moment in time. Moments that wouldn't have been accessible to the simple and daily recollection of events but, when paired with a scent, it brought beautiful memories back to the forefront of my brain.

I spent most of my 20's and early 30's traveling non-stop for work as well, and I realized that in that constant nomad state that I continued to carry out into my adult life, I needed a grounding tool, if you will. A set of items and rituals that would make me feel at home at the end of a long day of meetings and conferences. Cue, candles.

Candles transformed my hotel room instantaneously, and I found myself looking forward to those quiet moments that would inevitably recharge me throughout those small timeframes that you have for yourself.

Con Calma was born during COVID-19. It is a labor of love that came naturally, and filled my free time with an activity that made me feel happy and excited. I sourced vegan waxes that have a beautiful finish and deliver a clean and even burn. The scents are phthalate free, which means that they do not emit toxic carcinogens and harmful vapors into the air. We also use wooden wicks, which are eco-friendly, promote a clean burn, and are made from FSC Certified Wood, hand-crafted and made in the USA.
